For students to participate in Athletics and/or try out for sports (even Cheer), they must have an Athletic physical completed by a doctor. It is good for 1 school year. The doctor must fill out the green AISD Athletic physical packet. (It cannot be downloaded or copied.) Packets can be picked up in the front office.
It is very important that you get this completed before the beginning of the school year. It is usually difficult to make an appointment at that time because of the rush of people trying to get it done. Come tryouts, if your child does not have an athletic physical, they will not be able to step foot on the court or field, causing them to lose try-out days. Coaches will not give extra tryout days due to not having a physical.
The district offers one day that we can take our students to go and get free physicals. This year that will take place at the Burger center. (The date has not yet been confirmed. It will either be May 17 or 19. We will take a bus after school. More details to come.) Athletes can get an athletic physical with their doctor or participate in the district's free physical day. (Highly recommended) A group of doctors volunteer their time to complete these physicals at no cost. If you choose to send your child with us, the front of the green packet must be completed and turned in by Friday, 5/7/2021, along with the Access sheet giving your child permission to go with us. If you choose to take your child to their own doctor, just turn in the packet to a coach once it is complete. Preferably before the start of next school year. (Yes, this applies to incoming Freshman as well. Their documents will be sent to their high school.)
Inside of the packet, you will also find a QR code that will take you to a link to fill out the required UIL forms. Please follow the directions to fill out the online forms. (Do not create an account, sign in as a guest.)
Please reach out to Coach Almanza (melissa.almaza@austinisd.org) if you have any questions about this process.
